Guardian Warm Roof
Do I need planning permission for a solid conservatory roof?
No, planning permission is not required for a solid conservatory roof.
Are Building Regulations required?
Yes, all solid conservatory roof conservatives are subject to building control.
Can I use my existing frames for the new tiled roof replacement?
Usually you can, providing that the existing windows have sufficient reinforcing. Occasionally, existing frames aren’t suitable and must be replaced. We will confirm that after our site survey.
Will my conservatory be dark due to loss of light through the roof?
No, solid roof conversions usually retain the existing shape and roof style. With a plastered and painted finish, light is allowed to reflect around the living space. You can also add spotlights and roof windows which helps with the conservatory light.
Does a solid conservatory roof help with the noise reduction when the weather is windy or rainy?
Yes, noise reduction is yet another benefit of a solid roof conversion vastly reducing wind, rain and even road noise.
How long does it take to replace a conservatory roof?

How do I choose the best glazing for my roof?
There are many glazing options available for conservatory roofs. You can find this information from our glass brochure.
Polycarbonate Roof vs. Glass Roof?
When considering glass or polycarbonate, there are a number of things to take into account. Glass conservatory roofs will achieve a more comfortable living space, are aesthetically more pleasing and glass is more resistant to weathering. Polycarbonate on the other hand is a lot cheaper than glass and is not translucent unless clear polycarbonate is opted for. Polycarbonate also tends to be very noisy especially when raining. This is another benefit of a glass conservatory roof.
Will my conservatory be usable all year round with a glazed roof?
Yes, market leading glass products now offer the benefits of warmth retained from within and solar reflection from outside resulting in a more usable living space.

Skypod Skylights
What are the maximum and minimum size options for a Skypod?
Normal Skypod (Rectangle):
- Minimum Size: 700mm X 830mm
- Maximum Size: 2750mm X 8700mm
Skypod SQ (Square):
- Minimum Size: 500mm X 500mm
- Maximum Size: 2750mm X 2750mm
What is the difference between your glass options with U-Value 1.2 and U-Value 1.0?
U-Value: A measure of air-to-air heat transmission (loss or gain) due to thermal conductance, and the difference in indoor and outdoor temperatures. As the U-Value decreases, so does the amount of heat that is transferred through the glazing material. The lower the U-Value, the more restrictive the fenestration product is to heat transfer (Reciprocal of the R-Value). This is a critical function in that it makes it possible to strike an optimum balance between economy and ecology. The lower the U-Value, the more efficient the insulation.
How long does it take to get my Skypod if I order it today?
We always aim to ensure we have your Skypod manufactured and delivered to you within a maximum of 2 weeks.
Do you provide the installation kit?
Please contact us directly to discuss options.
What is the difference between your set sizes and made to measure Skypods?
From an end product point of view there is no difference between a set-size Skypod and a made to measure one, you will still be getting the same great quality products at the specification you have requested. From a manufacturing point of view we offer set size Skypods for 2 main reasons:
- First of all the set sizes have been carefully selected to ensure the most optimal use of our raw materials in order to minimise any wastage, therefore allowing a more cost effective and environmentally friendly process.
- The second reason is that by producing set sizes it allows us the ability to hold pre-made Skypods in our storage facility and in turn giving us the opportunity to offer a quicker turnaround for the customer from point of order.
